The unit can be used stand-alone without a computer, just insert a USB-C connector for power (or from a battery power bank). The built-in screen shows status information and allows the selection of one of the pre-set favorite node number to instantly connect.

The unit is delivered with set-up software running to allow you to connect from a phone or laptop to configure the unit for your WIFI and node address, no need to flash the SD card or use any terminal applications to access the device – it’s plug and play.

What do you need to use the RLN-Z2?

  • 5v USB supply – e.g. wall adaptor or USB power bank capable of providing over 1 Amp
  • Good strong WIFI in your house or location (phone hotspot will also work)
  • A smartphone or laptop to configure the WiFi and your Node number (only needed for setup)
  • AllStarLink Node number and password from https://allstarlink.org/

That’s it, the internal speaker and included microphone means there’s no spaghetti to worry about.
